Kevin Heshedahl began his musical life in
Alberta. As a young singer he attended Musicamrose, went on to sing in the Alberta Youth Choir for five years, and represented
Alberta three times in the National Youth Choir of Canada. He has sung with the
University of
Alberta’s Madrigal Singers, Pro Coro
Canada and is a founding member of Ensemble de la Rue, a sixteen-voice chamber choir specializing in music of the Early Renaissance, and rarely performed modern works.
As conductor, Kevin has led the Victoria Young Company Singers and Concert Choir at
Victoria
School, the Intermediate Choir at
Alberta
College’s Schola Cantorum and the All-City Treble Choir of Edmonton Public’s Music Enrichment Program. He has also worked as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church (1995-2003) and Executive Director of the Alberta Choral Federation (2001-2007). In 1997, Kevin co-founded Community Music Initiatives – a non profit company that pairs private music students with instructors in communities around
Edmonton. In addition to managing Community Music, Kevin now freelances in graphic design from the beautiful Slocan Valley in British Columbia.
